Courage
for when you're about to do something difficult
You already have what you need to face today.
Not for every day. Not for all the days that come after this one. Just for today. And today is all that is being asked of you right now.
The thing you are facing, whatever shape it has, however long it has been building, will ask something of you. It always does. But you have been asked things before, and you have answered. Not always perfectly. Sometimes haltingly, or quietly, or through clenched teeth. But you answered.
Courage is not the absence of fear. Everyone who has ever done anything worth doing has been afraid. Those who walked into rooms they were not supposed to be in, who spoke when they were told to be silent, who kept going when keeping going made no sense. They were afraid. They did it anyway. Not because the fear left them but because something else was stronger.
Something in you is stronger too.
You do not have to feel brave. You do not have to believe in yourself with any particular conviction. You just have to take the next step, and then the one after that, and then the one after that.
Today is one day. You have done one day before. You can do this one.
