Not Better, Not Worse

For letting other people do it their way too
Your way is yours. It is not the measure of anyone else's. Someone folds the towels differently. Someone prays when you wouldn't, or doesn't when you would. Someone raises their children louder, or quieter, or slower than you'd manage it. Someone lives in a house that would drive you mad, mess everywhere, nothing in its place, and they are perfectly content in it. None of that is a verdict on you. And none of it needs your verdict either. It is an easy thing to forget. We find our own rhythm and start to believe it is the true one, the sensible one, and everything else is a little bit wrong. But there is no true one. There is only what settles a person, what lets them sleep at night, what makes their house feel like theirs. If someone is happy in their way, let them be. You do not have to understand it. You do not have to agree with it. Someone can be perfectly happy with a way you'd never choose. It's no different than you loving chocolate and your friend not touching it. Neither of you is wrong. You just want different things. This is not the same as staying quiet about harm. That is a different matter, and you know the difference. A messy house that brings someone contentment is not your business. A person drowning in it, unable to lift themselves out, is another thing entirely, and you will know it when you see it. That is when you set the judging aside and simply help. Judge less. Watch more. You will find there is a whole world of people doing things their own way and getting on fine, same as you.
