Find Your Silver Lining

for when you need to look at things from a different angle
They say every cloud has a silver lining. You have heard it so many times it has worn smooth, like a stone with no edges left. But there is something underneath that saying that is older than the saying itself. Not that suffering is secretly good. Not that you should be thankful for the hard thing. But that even inside the hardest things, there is almost always something else running alongside. A seam of something different. Not opposite to the difficulty, just other than it. This is what the silver lining actually is, when you strip away the cheerfulness that has been pasted over it. Not that the cloud is not real. The cloud is real. But that if you shift your angle, stand somewhere slightly different in relation to it, you may see something the current view does not show you. The same thing, in different light. It does not announce itself. It does not ask to be noticed. It is usually small and quietly itself in the middle of the difficulty, a particular kindness, an unexpected moment, something that was still beautiful despite everything around it. You do not have to find it. But if you are willing to look, not to replace what is hard, just to see what else is there, it is worth looking. Where is the seam of light in this? Even a thin one. Even one you almost missed. That is enough. That is the silver lining. Not a solution. Just proof that the darkness is not the only thing.
