Trying Is Winning

On the barriers we build to keep ourselves from succeeding
There is a thing that happens the moment you begin. Not when you finish. Not when you succeed. When you begin. Something shifts. The weight of the unlived thing lifts slightly, because it is no longer unlived. You are in it now. Whatever comes next, you are someone who tried. That cannot be taken from you. Most people are waiting to be ready. Waiting for the fear to pass, for the timing to improve, for the conditions to be right. But the fear doesn't pass before you begin. It passes, if it passes at all, because you began anyway. The trying is the thing. Not the outcome. Not the result. The act of stepping toward it when everything in you said not yet. I have watched people succeed and I have watched people fail. The ones who tried and failed carry something the ones who never tried do not. They carry the knowledge of themselves. What they are made of. What they can bear. That is not nothing. That is most of it. Begin. Whatever it is. The trying is already the win.
